The brief
A shaded, leaf-strewn courtyard with cracked slabs and nowhere to sit. The clients wanted a warm, low-maintenance space for long evenings outdoors and room for a few big pots.
What we did
We lifted the old paving, corrected the drainage falls and built a raised hardwood deck on an adjustable pedestal system. Built-in bench seating, low-voltage lighting and large planters softened the walls.
The result
A dry, level terrace that catches the last of the sun, with seating for eight and planting that looks good all year with minimal watering.
